Welcome back to the Life Church blog! Are you thinking of going back to church and are searching for “nearby churches”? If you haven’t been to church in awhile, it can be hard to get back into the habit and if you’ve been burned by the church in the past, taking another chance on “the church” requires bravery. We understand because we’ve been there before. However, remembering why going to church is beneficial for you and your family can help you take the first step and bring the family with you. Today, we are going to talk about four reasons why you should consider going back to church.

God Says So

The first reason to go back to church is for the reason that God says so, because he knows how much we need it. God set up the church because he knew that strength is found in numbers and that a three-strand cord is not easily broken. He also says in Hebrews 10:25-26:

“Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

The things that God asks us to do may not always make sense, but no matter what it is that he asks of us, we can trust that he has our best interest in mind.

No matter how long we’ve have been going to church and have been believers, we always have something to learn. Though our time spent at church shouldn’t be the only time that we devote to learning more about God and the Bible, it is one of the primary ways to learn what God wants us to know. We will not only gain knowledge that will better help us interpret the Bible, but also practical ways to live life the way he wants us to.

Develop Friends

Going to church with your family will allow everyone in your clan to make friends and develop other beneficial relationships. Having friends who are believers is incredibly important. Not only can they encourage you and your family members with God’s truth, but it is also so much easier to live the life God wants for us when those we spend time with those who are doing the same thing. Making friends with kids at church will help your kids want to grow up following God, and will make them more eager to go to church.

Feed the Soul

Going to church will feed your soul. Like the Samaritan woman at the well, it is easy for our souls to become parched due to the struggles of day-to-day life. Being in a positive environment and hearing how much God loves us is incredibly lifegiving and encouraging.
